DFTO chief executive, Robin Gisby, responds to ORR review of train operator's revenue protection practices

He said: “Today’s report highlights the challenges in supporting customers that make honest mistakes and tackling the very real issue of fare evasion.

"We want to make it easier for passengers to purchase the right tickets, by making the process much clearer and simpler.

“We are already working closely with the Department for Transport and ORR to address some of the root causes of fare evasion and how matters are dealt with when things go wrong.

"It is a difficult role for colleagues that work in revenue protection who often find themselves in challenging situations.

"DFTO will continue to work closely with the ORR and industry partners to make the system less complicated for passengers.”
