LNER train

LNER

LNER is synonymous with some of the greatest moments in British rail history.

With a rich heritage incorporating iconic locomotives such as Flying Scotsman and Mallard, as well as engineering greats like Sir Nigel Gresley, LNER remains committed to its mission of continuing to transform rail travel. LNER’s modern, eco-friendly fleet of Azuma trains set new, higher standards in comfort, reliability and customer experience.

Calling at more than 50 stations along almost a thousand miles of the East Coast route, LNER connects major towns and cities between London, the East Midlands, Yorkshire, the North East of England, and Scotland, delivering over £3.1 billion of economic value to the UK per year. In the past year, LNER operated more than 50,000 services, saw 24 million passenger journeys and covered over 3,500 million miles. LNER has made huge inroads reducing its environmental impact, and it has cut it carbon emissions by 50% in the past five years alone, meaning it is on track to achieving its goal of being net-zero by 2045.

LNER is proud to have come out top of all train operators for customer satisfaction in a recent industry survey, and has been named as a UK top employer for the sixth year in a row, with more than 3,500 colleagues. LNER, as part of DFTO, recognises the real benefits of a truly diverse, inclusive and representative workforce, that is reflective of the communities it serves.
